I recently managed to get my hands on some American Chestnut that was reclaimed from a barn in Mystic, CT that had been built in the 1830s. The American Chestnut was hit by a blight in the early 1900s and was almost wiped out. In the present day the only place to get this wood is from lumber reclaimed from buildings built prior to the blight. This Saturday August 16th we will be at the Hamburg Fair  located at the Grange Hall & Fairgrounds Rte. 156 Lyme, CT. The fair will be open from 9am until 11pm. Hope to see you there

Come see us at the Colchester Historical Society’s 17th Festival on the Green. The festival will take place from 10am to 4pm Saturday July 26th on the town green in Colchester CT. The fundraising event features a fife-and-drum muster at noon; crafts; and fine art from several mediums, including oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolor and other original work as well as photography.

Here at hart woodcrafts we are happy to introduce three new pen styles.

The first is a cartridge pen, as the name implies the lower half of this pen is made from a spent rifle cartridge. These are made from actual 30-06, 30-30 and 308 cartridges. The upper half of the pen can be made from almost any material though deer antler is the most popular. We also have available rifle shaped clips for these pens.

The second style is a pocket/purse pen. this is a small pen measuring only 4 1/2" long when closed with a very stylish design. The pen snaps together perfectly and when the cap is posted it fits perfectly in your fingers. you will find it will easily fit in a pocket or even the smallest of purses.

And last but not least we have the Gatsby Click pen. this is a variation on our popular Sierra Click pen. This model is slightly (about 1/2") shorter and has a more angular design.

Come see us at the 4th Annual Old Lyme Fine Arts & Crafts Festival taking place June 7th and 8th from 10am to 5pm at the Old Lyme Marketplace, 90 Halls Rd, Old Lyme CT. This is another chance to see all of items in person and speak with the craftsman who makes them all.

Father`s day is right around the corner on Sunday June 15th and a hand crafted pen or pencil can make the perfect gift. Give your father something unique that he will treasure for years to come.

Orders shipped by June 11th will arrive by Saturday the 14thy when shipped via our normal $5 USPS priority mail shipping. If you would prefer another shipping method they are available upon request.

We will be attending the 20th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair on the town green in Westbrook CT. on Sunday June 1st. The fair will take place from 10am until 4pm and admission is free. So please stop by and see us and all the other crafters.

Hart Woodcrafts will be on the road again soon. We will be attending the Fourth Annual Arts Fest to be held on the Marlborough Green at the intersection of North Main Street and Route 66 in Marlborough CT on Saturday, May 3rd from 10am until 4pm. Come see us at the 2nd annual Fine Art and Crafts in the Country Artisan Fair being held on Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Congregational Church of Marlborough, 35 South Main Street, Marlborough. Click here for map.

In addition to our crafts The event will feature juried exhibitors, original artwork, watercolor, oil on canvas, photography, pottery, jewelry, decorative painting, fiber arts, mixed media, and many one-of-a-kind items.

New Pen Styles!!!

At Hart Woodcrafts, we have started the new year early and are thrilled to introduce a new class of pen - the Prestige. These pens embody the pinnacle of pen crafting utilizing hand carved inlays and engraved platinum, gold and titanium. These pens are sure to become heirlooms. Fountain pens are also available - whether made to order or converted from other pen styles - nothing beats the elegance of these pens. Saturday, December 8th: Fitch High School in Groton, CT is holding a craft fair from 10 am to 3pm. The fair is a fund raiser for the 2008 alcohol- and drug-free graduation party. There will be more than 30 crafters and admission is free. Click here for directions to the school.

Sunday, December 9th: East Lyme High School in East Lyme, CT is holding a craft and gift fair from 11am - 3 pm. This is also a benefit for the senior class party, a drug- and alcohol-free event. 45+ vendors will be offering their wares. Santa will make an appearance from 12 to 2 pm. The Lyme Consolidated School PTO is sponsoring its Second Annual Jingle Bell Boutique Friday, November 30th, from 5 to 8 pm. The school is located on Route 156 in Lyme (click here for directions). There will be 25+ boutiques ready for your holiday shopping with handcrafted items such as handbags, artwork, toys, jewelry, clothing, vintage items and most importantly PENS!!! We will be at the Montville Senior Center 2nd Annual Craft Fair on October 27. The Fair will take place at the Montville Senior Center on 12 Maple Ave in Uncasville. Connecticut. We will be manning a table at the VFW post #594 ladies auxiliary harvest fair on Saturday, October 13th from 9am to 2pm. Proceeds benefit cancer aid and research. It will be at The Post Home at 30 Connecticut Ave in the Norwich Business Park in Norwich CT.
